We celebrate legends whilst they are still alive to tell us their story. We catch up with Joe Tshabangu, a serial entrepreneur, husband, father, mentor and activist. In a two part series, we tell his story.
Joe was the first township councillor in Sasolburg, township called Zamdela. As he married and his responsibilities grew, he took full-time to being an entrepreneur. During this time 1984 he started GT Homebuild and build many brick and mortar structures but more importantly saved many people.
His wife Sheila was the the first entrepreneur and black person to sell newspapers in the township. Both of them harbored two fugitives Tsietsie Mashinini an his friend Seatlholo.
In Sebokeng, he aided the Nangalembe family to flee the mass massacre in zone 7.
